APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR SPRING HOLIDAY BREAK

Councils and not-for-profit organisations across NSW can now apply for funding as part of the popular Holiday Break program ahead of the spring school holidays.

Minister for Regional Youth Ben Franklin encouraged eligible organisations and councils to apply under the NSW Government’s $10 million program that supports regional youth over the school holidays.

“The Holiday Break program has been running for three years and has proven to be very popular with young people aged 12-24 years in our regions, allowing them the opportunity to take part in fun activities with friends and meet new people,” Mr Franklin said.

From sport, to performing arts activities, movie nights and DJ workshops there will be something for young people of all ages to enjoy in our regions, experience a new hobby or even find a hidden talent.

“If there’s an activity that you’d like to see happen in your area during the school holidays, I encourage you to reach out to your local council or eligible community group, who can work with you to turn your idea into a reality.”

Funding of up to $7,000 will be available to all 93 regional councils across the state and eligible not-for-profit organisations to cover the cost of running youth events to run from 24 September to 9 October.

Thanks to key partnerships, Holiday Break is currently funding activities with organisations such as KYUP! to deliver martial arts workshops for young people, multi-day art workshops with the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, and holiday camps with the NSW Office of Sport.
