Community organisations across NSW are being invited to apply for a share of $500,000 in funding to deliver local road safety initiatives, with the latest round of the NSW Government’s Community Road Safety Grants program now open.
Eligible community-based, charity and not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to $5,000 or up to $30,000 to deliver local road safety initiatives.
Since its introduction in 2015, the Community Road Safety Grants program has supported hundreds of small-scale projects aimed at improving road safety awareness and encouraging safer behaviour across NSW.
Last year, 20 projects were selected for funding, targeting road users including Aboriginal communities, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, young people, pedestrians and cyclists.
Of those projects, 13 were delivered in metropolitan NSW and seven in regional areas.
Projects supported through the program can include road safety education, pedestrian safety initiatives and community campaigns focused on safer driving and road use.
Applicants must demonstrate a local road safety need and show how their project will contribute to safer behaviour in their community. Projects are also expected to align with the Safe System approach and the NSW 2026 Road Safety Action Plan.
Applications for the 2026 Community Road Safety Grants opened on 24 August and will close at 4pm on Monday, 28 September 2026.
Minister for Roads and Regional Transport Jenny Aitchison said community organisations were well placed to understand local road safety challenges and develop practical initiatives suited to their communities.
