The number of jobs advertised online fell 1.3 per cent in November to make it eleven consecutive month of declines, according to the federal government’s Internet Vacancy Index.
The numbers, released by the Department of Employment on Wednesday, indicated a drop of 2,200 ads from the previous month and a 10.6 per cent slide in listings in the past year.
The IVI measure is based on a count of all new job ads posted on three employment websites – Seek, CareerOne and JobSearch – during the month.
The monthly drop in the internet job vacancies index follows a fall of 1.2 per cent in October and 0.9 per cent in September.
The November data showed that ads declined in every state and territory, led by a 1.6 per cent fall in Tasmania.
Ads during the month fell 1.5 per cent in Victoria, 1.4 per cent in NSW, 1.2 per cent in Queensland and South Australia, 0.8 per cent in the Northern Territory, 0.4 per cent in Western Australia and 0.1 per cent in the ACT.
Listings slipped across all eight occupational groups, ranging from a 2.0 per cent fall for labourers to a 0.6 per cent dip among professionals.
