GOLDEN EAGLE LANDS THE BEST IN THE WEST

With Sydney’s racing scene still brimming with excitement in the wake of the 2022 Everest, Western Sydney looks forward to its race, with the Golden Eagle set to take place at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.

Minister for Racing Kevin Anderson said the Sydney Spring Racing calendar continues to bring unprecedented economic activity to Sydney and all of NSW.

“When the Sydney Spring Carnival is in full flight the whole city benefits. The hospitality sector directly benefits, the bar staff, restaurant managers, caterers, waiters, the coffee shops, hotels, and many more are all part of the juggernaut,” Mr Anderson said.

“The work and attention to detail of the Sydney Everest Spring Carnival is second-to-none and it is good to see everyone enjoying the social and economic benefits.

“This Saturday well over 1,000 staff will be directly employed at Rosehill, and thousands more at pubs and restaurants across NSW as people tune in to cheer on a winner. That’s 1,000 people who can pay the bills this week because of the economic benefits of the racing industry.”

Minister for Transport, Veterans and Western Sydney David Elliott said the Golden Eagle is Western Sydney’s race day.

“We love our racing in NSW and particularly in Western Sydney where some of the most passionate race fans in the State will get their chance to see a feature race in their own backyard,” Mr Elliott said.

“This race day is a chance for Western Sydney to show off its food, culture, fashion and entertainment and I look forward to Racing NSW and the Australian Turf Club putting on a bigger and better show than ever before.”

The Golden Eagle brings together the best four-year-olds in the country and is Australia’s second richest race with 10 per cent of the $10 million prizemoney being donated to the winning owners’ charity of choice.
