NSW Preventive Health Summit Dates Confirmed

The NSW Government has confirmed the upcoming NSW Preventive Health Summit will be held in Western Sydney in early October.

The Summit forms part of the Government’s response to the Special Commission of Inquiry into Healthcare Funding and will focus on preventing disease, improving health outcomes and addressing health inequities across NSW.

The two-day forum will bring together experts from across the health sector, government agencies and other stakeholders to consider potential health system and cross-government approaches to preventive health.

The NSW Preventive Health Summit will be held in Parramatta on Wednesday, 7 October and Friday, 9 October 2026.

Key areas of discussion will include:

  • Preventing chronic disease
  • Supporting mental health and wellbeing
  • Increasing the focus on healthy ageing
  • Supporting priority populations, including Aboriginal communities experiencing health inequities

Discussions will be informed by NSW Health’s The Health of the People of NSW 2026 report, which has been prepared for the Summit and will provide an updated overview of the health of the NSW population.

Consultation is already underway with health organisations, consumer groups, universities, non-government organisations, clinicians and peak bodies to ensure a broad range of perspectives are represented.

Following the Summit, NSW Health will prepare a report outlining the discussions and potential approaches, which will be presented to the NSW Government.

Health Minister Ryan Park said the Summit would focus on practical ways to strengthen preventive health, reduce chronic disease and ease pressure on the hospital system.
