Artists, groups, arts and cultural organisations, collecting organisations and philanthropists across the state can now apply for up to $100,000 in funding to commission ambitious new work through the NSW Government’s $1 million Visual Arts Commissioning Program.
Minister for the Arts Ben Franklin said the funding forms part of the NSW Government’s NSW COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan and will help individual artists and arts and cultural organisations by providing financial security and confidence to plan and deliver new work for exhibiting.
“Today’s funding commitment will provide further certainty to our much-loved visual arts sector, and clearly shows that the NSW Government understands the significant value the arts brings to our state’s economy and to the social fabric of our society,” Mr Franklin said.
“With a focus on Western Sydney and regional NSW, the new Visual Arts Commissioning Program will ensure that visual artists and the visual arts community are an important focus as we emerge from the pandemic.”
“As audiences return to arts and cultural institutions and public places, this timely investment will support further employment in the arts sector, stimulate cultural activity and create innovative opportunities for diverse and cutting-edge art works to be developed and enjoyed by audiences across NSW.”
Applications for the Visual Arts Commissioning Program are open to eligible NSW professional artists, groups, arts and cultural organisations, businesses and collecting organisations and philanthropists.
