Carlingford residents can now enjoy a newly upgraded space for recreation and outdoor activity following the completion of improvement works at Kilpack Park.
The $1.55 million redevelopment includes a new playground, outdoor fitness equipment, wider pedestrian paths, improved lighting, upgraded barbecue facilities and extensive landscaping.
The project was designed to modernise the park and create a more welcoming space for people of all ages to exercise, socialise and spend time outdoors.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Martin Zaiter said the renewal would make a meaningful difference to local families and the wider Carlingford community.
“Kilpack Park has been transformed into a modern, high-quality space where families can play, stay active and spend time together,” Cr Zaiter said.
“This is the kind of investment our community deserves — a park that caters to all ages and supports a healthy, active lifestyle close to home.”
He said high-quality parks and playgrounds were an important part of making Parramatta an attractive place to live, work and visit.
Community consultation conducted by the council found that more than 90 per cent of respondents supported the proposed design.
NSW Member for Parramatta Donna Davis said the park’s secure perimeter fence made it a safe recreational space for children, families and older residents.
“With funding from the NSW Government, people of all ages will benefit from improved barbecue facilities, a new playground, outdoor gym equipment, upgraded pathways, better lighting and new landscaping,” Ms Davis said.
“The Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program is designed to deliver high-quality public amenities in fast-growing suburbs such as Carlingford.”
She said the upgraded park would provide a popular community destination both now and into the future.
The project was jointly delivered by the NSW Government through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program and the City of Parramatta.
