NSW Ambulance has welcomed 150 new recruits, including paramedic interns, experienced paramedic inductees and emergency medical call takers.
The latest intake includes 120 paramedic interns, four paramedic inductees and 26 emergency medical call takers, who were formally inducted into the service at a ceremony last Friday.
The paramedic interns will now be posted across NSW to complete the on-road component of their 12-month transition-to-practice program.
They are not yet fully qualified NSW Ambulance paramedics. Graduate interns undertake supervised operational training before progressing towards qualified paramedic status.
The four paramedic inductees, who previously worked interstate or overseas, will complete a nine-week on-road induction before transitioning into NSW Ambulance operations.
Meanwhile, the 26 new emergency medical call takers will be based at the Sydney and Western Control Centres, where they will help receive Triple Zero calls and coordinate emergency responses.
The latest cohort adds to several NSW Ambulance recruitment rounds during 2026 as the service continues to expand its frontline and control-centre workforce. Earlier intakes included 116 paramedic interns and 21 call takers in April, followed by another 119 interns and 29 call takers announced in July.
Among the newest recruits is paramedic intern Lea-Ann Suthern, who changed careers after more than three decades running a hairdressing business.
Trainee emergency medical call taker Jacob Feneley was inspired to join NSW Ambulance after calling Triple Zero as a nine-year-old when his mother needed emergency assistance.
Health Minister Ryan Park said the new recruits would strengthen frontline emergency healthcare across NSW, while NSW Ambulance Interim Chief Executive Clare Beech said the intake marked the beginning of further training and professional development for the new staff.
