Rémy Cointreau Group adds to the festivities surrounding Asia’s first hosting of The World’s 50 Best Bars Awards with an exciting lineup of events. Throughout the week, cocktail enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience two of history’s best bars, one of which will be hosted at an all-new location of one of Singapore’s acclaimed cocktail establishments.
Celebrate History’s Best Bars with Rémy Cointreau Since 2009, The World’s 50 Best Bars has been awarding top honours to extraordinary bars across the globe. However, exceptional cocktails have been around for centuries and Rémy Cointreau will be celebrating the achievements of the best bars in history in a series of bar takeovers from two of the oldest continually operating bars on the planet. Some of the most vibrant and creative bars worldwide will host the takeovers, beginning with Sago House and Manhattan in Singapore.
With a combined 227 years of operating experience, Harry’s Bar (Paris) and DUKES Bar (London) will take the helm at Sago House and Manhattan, respectively, to stir up some of their classics that have stood the test of time, using Cointreau, Remy Martin, The Botanist gin, and Mount Gay rum. Both bars will show the world’s best bartenders gathering in Singapore what makes them one of history’s best bars.
On Monday, 16 October 2023, Harry’s Bar bartender Patrick Dooley and Owner Franz Mac Elhone will host the guest takeover at Sago House. Opened on Thanksgiving Day in 1911 in Manhattan, New York, Harry’s Bar was eventually reassembled in Paris and is known for inventing cocktail classics the Bloody Mary, the SideCar, the Blue Lagoon and the White Lady.
Over in Manhattan, on 18 October 2023, legendary bartender Alessandro Palazzi of DUKES Bar will showcase their cherished DUKES Martini legacy for one exclusive evening. With over 70 years of acclaim, DUKES Bar is celebrated for its iconic Martini, meticulously prepared tableside and featuring frozen gin or vodka, a delicate touch of vermouth, and a twist of unwaxed lemon.
A beloved haunt of James Bond creator Ian Fleming, DUKES Bar approaches this classic with the utmost reverence. From 5pm to 10pm, Alessandro, celebrated as the “maestro of the Martini” in the bartending world, will present his signature Martini creations made with The Botanist gin (all available at $28++ each).
