‘Incredibly important’ schools are back day one: Perrottet

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet says it’s “incredibly important” the state’s schools reopen on day one, term one.

He points to the more than 1 million rapid COVID-19 test kits that arrived yesterday, and the “millions more” on the way, as an important part of the strategy to reopen schools.

Perrottet cites the World Health Organisation saying schools should be the first to open and last to close because they are an important part of a child’s life.

“Lastly, I say, despite the challenges, they are not unique to the rest of the world. As a state, we will get through this,” Perrottet says.
