50pc of NSW population eligible for boosters

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet says almost 50 per cent of the eligible population is now eligible to receive a booster shot, and half of those in ICU are unvaccinated.

“I want to make mention today of boosters. Very pleasingly today we have hit 50 per cent of the eligible population here NSW will be eligible for receiving a booster shot,” he said.

“The evidence is very clear – booster shots and vaccination make a real difference in protecting you, your friends and your family,” Perrottet says.

“We have close to 70,000 booster shots available to be administered a week just in our hubs alone – 270,000 through their GPs and their pharmacies.

“But that support is provided by the NSW government … as you move through the coming months, more people will become eligible to receive the booster shot and I ask everybody across the state, it is very clear that if you look at the ICUs here in NSW … we are seeing around 50 per cent of people that are in the ICU are unvaccinated.”

“And that is at a time where 95 per cent of our population is vaccinated. The numbers don’t lie, the evidence is clear. Vaccinations, booster shots, make a real difference in protecting you, your friends and your families.”
