Tasmania’s lockdown lifts tonight

No new cases were detected in the state, which went into lockdown last Friday after a COVID-positive man escaped hotel quarantine.

Premier Peter Gutwein said the state will communicate its plan for reopening its border to Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT later this week.

“I expect that we will achieve 70 per cent fully vaccinated by Wednesday this week which is very positive and we remain on track to achieve 80 per cent fully vaxxed by Melbourne Cup week,” Gutwein said.

The state is expected to reach the 90 per cent vaccination target by December 1.
