More than 100,000 NSW school staff have been vaccinated, meaning more than 90 per cent of teaching and administration staff are covered.
The high vaccination rate allowed students to return to classrooms earlier than expected, Premier Dominic Perrottet said.
Students in kindergarten, year one and year 12 are back at school today in NSW after being sent home in June.
The Premier announced that the state would invest $380 million to fund tutors in classrooms to help children catch up if they had fallen behind while learning from home.
“We want to put as much investment as we can to make sure that kids who maybe are struggling, who may have slipped through the cracks during what has been a challenging educational year, have that support available to them,” Perrottet said.
