Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced that anyone aged 16 to 39 will be eligible for the Pfizer vaccine at state run clinics from Wednesday.
He said the state government had received an extra 450,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine and teenagers aged between 16 and 18 would continue to be ineligible for Astra-Zaeneca.
He said there were around 1.2 million people aged between 16 and 39 who had not received a vaccine.
“If I had supplies for everyone, everyone would be able to be booked,” he said.
Mr Andrews further announced that from 7am tomorrow there would be an additional 830,000 vaccination appointments available at 55 different sites in Victoria.
Mr Andrews urged Victorians with appointments for AstraZeneca to honour their existing appointments.
Covid-19 logistics chief Jeroen Weimar said anyone with an appointment for the AstraZeneca vaccine would be offered Pfizer at their appointment.
He said people would not need to change their existing bookings and appointment slots for Pfizer will be available from tomorrow.
