Waste-for-power plant plan for west Sydney

Cleanaway Waste Management is proposing to build a $500 million plant to burn waste for power in western Sydney.

The plant would be big enough to burn a third of the household and business red bin waste in western Sydney, garbage that’s currently going to landfill.

The 45 megawatt power plant would be located in an industrial area in Eastern Creek next to the M7 Motorway, and would create 800 jobs during construction and 50 highly skilled jobs during operations, Cleanaway says.
