NSW LIBERAL AND NATIONALS GOVERNMENT COMMIT $5.5 MILLION FOR CULTURAL EVENTS AND FESTIVALS

The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government has committed $5.5 million over the next four years to support community organisations host important cultural events and festivals.

Minister for Multiculturalism Mark Coure said that only a NSW Liberal and Nationals Government will enable the rich diversity of cultures and faiths throughout the state to flourish.

“Over the past four years, we have worked hard to ensure that our state is the most successful multicultural society in Australia and the world,” Mr Coure said.

“We have invested millions into community organisations, community groups, and local councils to help host cultural celebrations and festivals, empowering them to be proud and share their culture with everyone.

“We want this to continue, and we have a vision to ensure it will, which is why we will invest $5.5 million into cultural events and celebrations in our next term of government.”

The $5.5 million will support communities to celebrate their culture and faith, including $200,000 a year for The Greek Festival of Sydney, $75,000 a year for Ferragosto in Five Dock, and $40,000 for the Ukrainian community to host UkiFest 2023.

“One of the great qualities of our multicultural society is that you can experience all the cultures of the world right here in NSW,” Mr Coure said.

“Over the years these events have attracted hundreds of thousands of people from across the state, country, and beyond, which have boosted local economies and helped small businesses.

“The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government want to see this continue and grow so that these cultural celebrations can flourish, and everyone can enjoy our rich cultural diversity.”
