ANNETTE PITMAN APPOINTED CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF CREATE NSW

Annette Pitman has been appointed Chief Executive of Create NSW, the NSW Government agency responsible for arts, screen and culture.

Minister for the Arts Ben Franklin said Ms Pitman brings a wealth of public and private sector experience to the role.

“A world-class arts and screen presence in NSW needs an internationally recognised leader who can ensure the State remains competitive to attract the best arts, screen and cultural showcases for the community and visitors alike,” Mr Franklin said.

“Annette’s significant 25+ years of experience delivering major cultural infrastructure projects in Australia and the United States will further strengthen NSW’s position as a global arts and cultural leader.” “I am confident Annette’s vision and guidance will elevate Create NSW to new heights as the Government continues to deliver results for the sector and the people of NSW.”

Ms Pitman’s permanent appointment follows a 10-month tenure as Interim Chief Executive where she was responsible for the delivery of the NSW Government’s record investment of over $2.5 billion in cultural infrastructure, overseeing projects including the new Powerhouse Parramatta and Powerhouse Ultimo, Sydney Modern, Walsh Bay and Theatre Royal; as well as over 300 Regional Cultural Fund and Creative Capital cultural infrastructure projects across regional NSW.

The Chief Executive provides leadership for the arts, screen and cultural infrastructure arms of Create NSW, which is a group within the Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade.
