APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR $1M FILM FESTIVAL FUNDING

Sydney film festivals and councils can now apply for a share in the NSW Government’s $1 million Film Festival Funding program.

The targeted funding, delivered through Screen NSW, will support Sydney’s dynamic film festival culture, and accelerate the economic and social recovery of CBDs across Sydney, Western Sydney and South-Western Sydney.

Minister for the Arts Ben Franklin said the funding will enhance experiences for audiences with new film festival opportunities and events.

“The NSW Government is proud to support film festivals and the arts and cultural sectors, which have faced unpredictable challenges over the past two years,” Mr Franklin said.

“This targeted funding will assist with recovery and deliver more public screenings, festivals and events across Sydney that our audiences and visitors love.

“We want to support Sydney’s unique and exciting film festivals and ensure more communities have access to these great experiences. If you have a great idea or festival plan, I encourage you to apply.”

The fund is a $1 million commitment by the NSW Government to support a Film Festival Program through to May 2023. This includes public screenings, festivals and tours that will give audiences across Sydney the opportunity to experience quality screen content.

The Film Festival Funding Program is part of the NSW Government’s broader support as part of its NSW COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan.

Applications for the Film Festival Fund are now open on the Screen NSW website at http://www.screen.nsw.gov.au.

Applications close 2pm Wednesday, 4 May 2022.
