Victoria to bid for the 2026 Commonwealth Games

Victoria will bid for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, competing against South Australia and Tasmania for hosting rights.

Victoria has entered into an exclusive dialogue agreement with the Commonwealth Games Federation.

A final agreement is expected by April, Victorian Premier Dan Andrews has told media.

The agreement comes after there was increasing concern that no city would bid for the 2026 games after Birmingham in 2022.

Melbourne, Geelong and Ballarat are expected to be the primary host cities, but with other events to be held in Shepparton, the Latrobe Valley and Bendigo.
