NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet is considering providing discounted public transport for people to travel to the office and the Sydney CBD as part of the post-pandemic revival.
“I’m getting convinced today this could be a way to go,” he says, noting the government’s new transport minister was a “bit more supportive” of this than the last minister.
“Everything’s on the table. There were so many ideas that were brought forward today. And our track record coming out of these summits is delivery.”
He says the government previously reduced restrictions on trading and allowed people to dine outside which, before the pandemic, would have sparked protests from local communities.
“Now everybody loves it and the city is better off for it.”
