Prime Minister Scott Morrison is outlining the federal government’s response to the pandemic, including plans for the provision of free rapid antigen tests by the federal government.
On Monday, 6.5 million free tests will become available for concession cardholders, he says.
Tests are also free for people experiencing symptoms, he says.
“And in just 10 days, one in five children aged 5 to 11 in this country have had their first dose in just 10 days.”
Morrison has turned to supply chains and says the poultry sector is recovering after the revision of isolation rules for essential workers.
“I spent a lot of time in the poultry sector in the last week, and we’re getting that poultry sector back on a good footing, but things were pretty tight there for a week or two, in particular,” Morrison says.
“I want to thank all those leaders in the poultry sector who worked closely with us, to troubleshoot and fix some of the immediate problems they had which can ensure we could maintain continuity of those food supplies.”
