NSW records 12,226 infections as cases double every six days

NSW reported a record 12,226 new COVID-19 cases overnight.

More than 120 people were admitted to hospital over the past 24 hours, with the number of patients now standing at 746. The number of people in intensive care edged up to 63 from 61.

Of the 97,201 tests taken in the last 24 hours, a record 12.6 per cent came back positive.

One person died from the virus over the past 24 hours.
