International students will be allowed back into the country by Christmas Prime Minister Scott Morrison has told the VECCI business breakfast.
Answering a question about skill shortages, Morrison commended the NSW and Victorian government for dropping quarantine for returning vaccinated travellers.
He says this will see these economies reopened to other international arrivals.
“I think we’ll see that here in the Victoria and South Wales very soon,” Morrison says.
“This is my short answer to that question. I wish it would be true for the rest of the country and I think other parts of the country which will be suffering, the same skill shortages that you already are seeing here.”
He says international students will be back before the end of the year.
“Students will back off before the end of the year, particularly here in Victoria,” the PM told the audience.
