NSW reports 1,405 new COVID-19 cases

NSW has recored 1,405 new local COVID-19 cases, with five deaths.

NSW Health administered 27,871 COVID-19 vaccines in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, including 7,962 at the vaccination centre at Sydney Olympic Park.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said that while the NSW government is outlining its road map for the way forward for the state “we are definitely not out of the woods”.

“We know that case numbers are likely to peak in the next week or so and we also know that our hospital system will be under the greatest stress in October. However, we also know that living with COVID means you have a cautious and staged reopening, once you get to the high rates of vaccination in your adult,” she said.
