NSW records new cases 1220, eight deaths

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has confirmed 1220 new community cases of COVID-19 and eight additional deaths.

She has praised local government areas of concern for high rates of first dose vaccinations.

NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant says there are 192 in NSW intensive care, including 75 who are receiving ventilation.

Among the latest deaths in NSW, she says are people aged from their 50s to their 90s.

The latest locations of concern in NSW include Guildford, Auburn, Merrylands, Greenacre, Bankstown, Punchbowl, Dubbo and Granville.

Chant has called out the Central Coast, where there are growing cases.

“We’re seeing a number of cases increase in the Central Coast, so please come out and get tested,” she said.

The latest data on hospitalisations from NSW has been released, with 80 more people receiving care in the past 24 hours.

Across the state there are 1151 cases in hospital, including 192 people in intensive care. At least 75 people are on ventilators.

The death toll is now 139.
