Victoria to move from lockdowns to lockouts

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says the state will move from lockdowns to lockouts of the unvaccinated, as people will find they will not be able to get into some public venues including sporting events, restaurants and shows.

“I’m not going to lock the whole state down to protect people who won’t protect themselves,” Andrews says.

He says the government is working on a series of outdoor vaccinated economy pilots and a pilot for home quarantine for when the state reaches 70 per cent and “more likely” 80 per cent of eligible adults being vaccinated.

“If you like, proof of concept to make sure the technology works,” he says.
