NSW has reported 882 new local coronavirus cases and two deaths.
They were a man in his 60s and a man in his 90s, they died at separate hospitals but were both infected while at hospital.
Both had underlying health conditions and had each received one dose of the vaccine.
There are currently 767 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 117 people in intensive care, 47 of whom require ventilation.
The majority of cases – about 80 per cent – are in south-west and western Sydney.
Victoria has recorded 79 new cases on Friday, one down on Thursday’s total of 80.
Of the new cases, 53 are linked to known outbreaks. There are currently 26 mystery cases and 660 active coronavirus cases across the state.
