More Victorian tourism vouchers released

Victoria has released tens of thousands of extra regional tourism vouchers to encourage people to holiday at home and boost the economy.

Registration for the latest batch of 40,000 vouchers, allowing Victorian travellers to recoup $200 in holiday costs, opened on Wednesday.

The initial launch of the program in December crashed the website.

The government says 70,000 vouchers have already been allocated, with the most popular destinations the Mornington Peninsula, Surf Coast, Bass Coast, East Gippsland and the High County.

The latest round of vouchers will be redeemable between January 27 and April 1.

Travellers must spend at least $400 on accommodation, experiences or tours during that period.

They can only redeem the voucher afterwards.

Another 40,000 vouchers are expected to be released on March 30, the government says.
