On Wednesday the 28th the team behind the newest jewel in the Sydney Harbour, Opera Residences, celebrated the topping out of the $600 million residential and retail development by Macrolink and Landream alongside Richard Crookes Construction.

The final roof slab was poured on the 23rd of October 2020, marking a major milestone in the delivery of the future landmark building, which is located on Sydney Harbour at the former site of Coca Cola Amatil.

To commemorate, in true tradition an evergreen tree was craned onto the highest point of the structure.

Richard Crookes Constructions’ George Bardas thanked all those who attended the ceremony and acknowledged that beyond the impressive 1,140 façade panels, 30,000m2 of formwork and 10,000m3 of concrete involved in the structure, the quality results reflect the teams attention to detail and commitment to quality and innovation throughout the build.

“As a business, RCC selects exciting projects which we are proud to deliver, and which leave a legacy in our community; we see success as being about more than just delivering a quality building and Opera Residences has been a great example of that philosophy” George said.

The external façade works are due to be completed in December this year, and the internal fit-out works are well underway. The anticipated project completion date is on track for end of March 2021.

“Opera Residences is one of many high-end boutique developments being developed by Macrolink worldwide. The project aligns closely with our brand and commitments to delivering exceptional high standards of design, quality, functionality and comfort to our customers. Our customers are extremely important to us and we strive to deliver as perfect a home for each and every one as possible.

At Macrolink we hold great importance on working closely with local Authorities to achieving a collaborative outcome and alignment with local development standard and regulations.” Macrolink’s Managing Director Michael said.

The building was designed by AIA Gold Medal award winner Alec Tzannes and his colleagues at Tzannes Architects, alongside Crone Architects, and interior designer Make Architects.

All 104 residences were sold out in two hours at record prices in 2016 by CBRE, which broke the national apartment record of Australia at that time. Boasting soaring views of the Harbour, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House and Hyde Park, the building also comprises five prime retail spaces, which all have been leased.
