On 28 – 29 February, two tons of Australian beef were delivered to a total of eight hospitals in Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, supplementing a power meal to more than 11,000 front-line medical staff. Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) collaborated with a Wuhan based Australian beef importer to launch this “MLA Stands with Wuhan” initiative, in order to show the support and respect to the medical staff for their tremendous efforts in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak.
“Wuhan has gained international attention after the outbreak, and we have received assistance from all over the world. On behalf of all frontline staff, we greatly appreciate the supplies and care sent from MLA”, said the Head of Logistics of the Wuhan Medical Emergency Center. “Our hospital has 4,300 on-site staff, who play different roles to prevent the spread of the epidemic. Thanks to the generous help from the whole society, we have received quality food supplies which could satisfy the nutritional needs of our staff”, said a representative in charge of incoming supplies in the Central Hospital of Wuhan.
“We would like to pay our highest tribute to all medical staff who bravely fight against the coronavirus on the front line. Our donation is a gesture to express and share our support and respect. The virus is a common challenge facing all mankind. We believe that with all parties working together, we will win the battle in the near future.” commented by Joe Zhu, Country Manager of Greater China from Meat and Livestock Australia.
Since the outbreak, MLA has been very concerned of the industry stakeholders and the general public affected by the virus. MLA hopes that the effort could deliver positive energy for the hardworking frontline medical staff who have been fighting against the virus day and night. The 2-tons of Australian beef has been delivered to them in eight hospitals, including the Central Hospital of Wuhan, Union Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, and Wuhan No.7 Hospital.
