Australia trade surplus drops in December

Australia’s trade surplus decreased to $5.223 billion in December, a drop of $295 million on the surplus in November 2019.

In seasonally adjusted terms, exports rose 1.0 per cent for the month and imports were up 2 per cent, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday.

Market consensus had been for the trade balance of about $5.6 billion, in seasonally adjusted terms.
