ICD Property appoints Hickory to deliver Melbourne’s last ‘super tower’

Award-winning property developer ICD Property has appointed Hickory as the builder of Melbourne’s last ‘super tower’ – Aspire Melbourne - a $440 million skyscraper opposite Flagstaff Gardens that is being developed with joint-venture partner MaxCap Group, one of Australia’s leading property financiers.

Signalling the first project between the two companies, the construction contract is valued at circa $180 million with construction on the 65-level tower expected to commence next month, with staged completion beginning in October 2021. Throughout the project’s approximate three-year construction life cycle, approximately 1,000 jobs are expected to be created, providing a significant boost to Melbourne’s local economy and job market.

Located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, Aspire Melbourne’s 594 apartments stand proud at 211 metres tall, with its impressive sleek curvature facade designed by Elenberg Fraser. Hickory will be responsible for bringing to life Elenberg Fraser’s vision for the site including six floors within the building dedicated solely to shared luxury amenities for residents.

Ranging from a mezzanine library and coworking space with board rooms to a champagne conservatory, whiskey parlour, and wellness centre including a gym, hydro pool, and spa – Aspire Melbourne is unlike anything the city’s seen before.

ICD Property Managing Director, Matthew Khoo, says Hickory were carefully selected for an array of reasons, including their long track record of successfully delivering high-rise towers throughout Melbourne.

“Hickory have contributed to Australia’s property landscape since 1991 with quality projects that have formed the skyline of our most famous cities. They were selected for their innovative approach and proven ability to deliver skyscrapers of this scale and to this day, remain at the forefront of innovative construction methodology that is unmatched in terms of quality and speed.

“ICD Property are proud to partner with Hickory on our first project together, Aspire Melbourne, a transformative development that will help shape the future of Melbourne’s living standards.”

Hickory’s Managing Director George Abraham says Aspire is an exciting addition to Hickory’s skyscraper workbook. “We’re proud to be partnering with ICD to deliver this unique development. Aspire will join a long list of skyscrapers Hickory has successfully built leveraging the experience of our internal structures and facades team. We’re also very excited to collaborate with Elenberg Fraser once again, to deliver their sleek, sculptural design,” George said.

Aspire Melbourne officially launched to market last month, with over 300 apartments snapped up during the presale launch, totalling $225 million in sales.
