The number of new newspaper and internet job ads fell 1.7 per cent in November, according to a tally by ANZ.
The seasonally adjusted drop in Australian employment ads follows a 1.0 per cent fall in October, the bank’s researchers said on Monday.
“We expect employment growth to decline into 2020, lagging the deterioration in GDP growth over the past year,” ANZ economist Catherine Birch said.
The total number of new ads during the month – 153,260 – was a slide of 12.6 per cent compared with November 2018.
“While we expect the Q3 GDP data to show growth starting to gradually pick up from its low, the fact that the ANZ Job Ads figure is still falling suggests that the softness in the labour market has a way to run,” Ms Birch said.
