The Insurance Council of Australia has declared the Rappville bushfire a catastrophe in a move that should help speed up processing of residents’ claims related to the northern NSW blaze.
Insurance Council of Australia chief executive Rob Whelan said on Thursday that affected property owners should contact their insurers as quickly as possible.
Authorities believe the fire, which has destroyed at least 10 homes in the rural hamlet, may have been deliberately lit.
