ASX posts strong gains but ends week lower

The Australian share market has closed higher, with gains across the board, but the ASX still suffered its first losing week since mid-August.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index finished Friday up 38.5 points, or 0.58 per cent, to 6,716.1 points, while the broader All Ordinaries was also up 38.5 points, or 0.57 per cent, to 6,824.1 points.

The Aussie dollar is buying 67.56 US cents, up from 67.52 US cents on Thursday.
