Value of mortgage lending up 1.3% in June

The value of loans to home buyers and property investors increased in June while lending to businesses contracted, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

“In June we saw rises in new lending commitments for both owner-occupier and investor dwellings for the first time in over a year,” ABS analyst Ben Dorber said.

The seasonally adjusted value of new lending commitments to households increased by 1.3 per cent in June after a 1.6 per cent decline in May.
