Five children are among 76 people who have died after getting the flu in Victoria this year during a longer-than-usual season.
Sixty-one people in residential aged care, 10 adults in the general community and five children have had flu-related deaths this year, the latest health department figures show.
More than 40,000 people have been diagnosed with the flu in Victoria since the season began in January, a spokesman told AAP on Wednesday.
