Non-toxic gold mining practice going live

CSIRO is transferring a cyanide-free gold mining technique to Perth company Clean Mining.

Australia’s national science agency says the “Going for Gold” process replaces the cyanide used to extract gold from ore with non-toxic reagent thiosulphate.

Clean Mining is in negotiations with ICA Mining Services in the NT to commission the first commercial plant to process gold using the technology, CSIRO said on Wednesday.
