NSW LIBERAL GOVERNMENT TO PARTNER WITH KOGARAH COMMUNITY SERVICES TO SUPPORT SENIORS

Liberal candidate, Craig Chung, welcomes today’s announcement that as part of its continued effort to support the senior community, the NSW Liberal Government will support Kogarah Community Services in the next term of government with $300,000 to run its Intergenerational Program.

“Since 2019, the local community organisation’s Intergenerational Program has helped bridge the gap between generations by bringing children, students, and families together with residents from aged care homes.” Mr Chung said.

“This is another delightful example of the Perrottet Liberal Government investing in local communities by empowering our seniors and continuing to understand their needs.”

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet said this program goes to the heart of the NSW Liberal Government’s vision to help seniors stay active in their local area.

“Seniors have given so much to our state, and we know that our local community only strengthens when we’re connected and learning from eachother. This program will enable seniors to socialise, share stories and participate in events throughout the St George area,” Mr Perrottet said.

Minister for Seniors and Member for Oatley Mark Coure said the team at Kogarah Community Services do a fantastic job of helping seniors do just that in our local area, providing the right environment for them to connect with young people.

“One of the fantastic things about this program is that it helps forge strong relationships between seniors and young people by breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes,” Mr Coure said.

Mr Coure said Kogarah Community Services is a local institution that has been connecting young people and seniors through the program for four years.

“This investment we are committing to recognises the significant value that this program provides the St George area,” Mr Coure said.

“Kogarah Community Services is an organisation that understands our local area, and we want to ensure they can continue doing their best for our community.”
