Plans for the new Penrith Community Health Centre have reached a significant milestone, with the NSW Government appointing the project’s lead design team to begin the next phase of planning and detailed design.
The purpose-built facility forms part of the more than $1 billion Nepean Redevelopment and will strengthen access to integrated community healthcare for one of the fastest-growing populations in Greater Western Sydney.
Located on the existing Lemongrove campus in Penrith, the new Community Health Centre will provide a modern, purpose-built environment for a wide range of adult community health services, bringing together general practitioners, medical specialists, community health nurses and allied health professionals under one roof.
The centre will also deliver expanded HealthOne services and Renal Dialysis, supporting more coordinated, patient-centred care closer to home.
The appointment of the lead consultant team marks the beginning of the detailed planning and design phase, with architect Angel MahChut selected as lead designer alongside project manager Lineaire Projects and cost manager Altus Group following a competitive tender process.
Once completed, the new facility will complement existing community health services across the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District while supporting the long-term development of the Lemongrove campus and improving integration between hospital and community-based healthcare.
The existing Community Health Centre at Lemongrove will continue operating throughout the planning process, ensuring patients continue to receive uninterrupted healthcare services while the future layout of the campus is finalised.
Construction timeframes, including the project’s completion date, will be confirmed following completion of the planning and design phase and the appointment of a construction contractor.
The Community Health Centre forms part of Stage Two of the Nepean Redevelopment, one of the NSW Government’s largest health infrastructure investments, which continues to expand healthcare capacity across Western Sydney through new clinical facilities, improved patient services and modern healthcare infrastructure.
Minister for Health Ryan Park said the project would significantly improve access to healthcare services for local residents.
“The new Community Health Centre in Penrith will improve access to essential health services for some of our fastest growing communities.”
“These integrated health services will help ensure people can see a GP, allied health professional, or a community health nurse more conveniently and closer to home.”
“The Nepean Redevelopment is progressing quickly, with the appointment of the lead design team for the Community Health Centre marking another milestone on the way to delivering better services for the region.”
Member for Penrith Karen McKeown said the new facility would make healthcare more accessible for the local community.
“This additional facility is another step towards delivering better healthcare closer to home for people across Penrith and our surrounding communities.”
“The new Community Health Centre will bring together a range of essential services under one roof, making healthcare more convenient and connected for patients in need of care.”
“I’ve long advocated for continued investment in healthcare across Penrith, and I am pleased to see another milestone reached in delivering the facilities our growing community deserves.”
