STATEMENT: LABOR CANDIDATE’S COMMENTS ON PROBLEM GAMBLING

Comments from Labor’s South Coast candidate Liza Butler that problem gambling is an issue isolated to diverse communities in Western Sydney is very unhelpful and divisive.

To single out diverse communities in Western Sydney is deeply disappointing.

Problem gambling is an issue facing every part of our state and unfairly pinning it on multicultural communities in Western Sydney is totally unacceptable.

This commentary from Labor shows a complete lack of understanding about the issue of problem gambling and reinforces that they aren’t serious about fixing the problem.

The NSW Liberals and Nationals are fully committed to cashless gaming in the state by 2028, while Labor have only committed to a small trial.

The NSW Liberals and Nationals will support all communities to tackle this issue and will seek to unite not divide on this important issue.
