NSW South Coast police arrested a 47-year-old man in Nowra after 6000 prescription tablets were allegedly delivered to a post-office box on Wednesday morning.

Police allege the man imported two deliveries containing over 6000 tablets of restricted prescription medication from overseas.

The imported tablets are believed to be ‘diazepam, or valium, a common sedative,’ NSW Police said in a statement on Thursday.

After being taken to Nowra Police Station, the 47-year-old was charged with two counts of importing prohibited tier-two drugs.

The man was refused bail to appear at Nowra Local Court on Thursday.
